 And here it is, my first published work! It's from the Young Folks Page in the Boston Herald Advertiser , circa 1972.

The object was to make a drawing from a "curlycue," (it was the z-shape that is the scientist's front leg).

Needless to say, I was psyched! It was in the paper! ...but a little annoyed that they neglected to color in his hand.

 In 1973, my second submission was published too! (The shape was the outline of Louisiana). I was on a roll! No stopping me now!

Then...my third drawing wasn't printed. I got discouraged and stopped submitting. My first official "rejection." Sheesh, I had a lot to learn!

By the way, I STILL draw flowers like that.
